When you’re in the mood to move to upbeat music and work up a sweat, SilverSneakers LIVE online classes like SilverSneakers Circuit can give you the boost you need. But some days, it’s nice to slow things down, connect your body and mind with gentle movement, and let the stress of the day fade away.
Sound familiar? Then a tai chi-based workout might be for you. Often described as “meditation in motion,” tai chi is especially beneficial for older adults because it’s a low-impact, joint-friendly activity.
In this video, SilverSneakers Master Trainer Andi will guide you through a five-minute version of SilverSneakers EnerChi, an intermediate class that uses modified tai chi. “We focus on purposeful movement to increase strength and balance,” she says.
About SilverSneakers EnerChi
In a full-length SilverSneakers LIVE online class, you can expect to move through a slow, flowing sequence as you shift your weight front to back and side to side. You’ll need open space and an optional sturdy chair for support.

How to Do the SilverSneakers EnerChi Express Workout
In this shortened version, you’ll do a five-minute segment of the class. You’ll just need yourself and open space free of obstacles. Feel free to keep a sturdy chair nearby for support.
If you’d like, warm up on your own for five minutes by walking or marching in place. When you’re ready, press play on the video above, and follow along.
As you flow, maintain proper posture by engaging your core and keeping your shoulders back and down. Also, try to breathe in and out a little more slowly. “Focus on breathing in a way that’s comfortable for you,” says Andi.
